Pershore Volunteer Centre

Pershore Volunteer Centre is accredited as a volunteer centre by Volunteering England. it was established in August 1984 and became a registered charity in January 1985. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the management of the charity and has delegated the day to day running to a Centre Manager.

We cover the area around Pershore as well as Pershore itself.

Overall Aim
To improve the strength and wellbeing of the community in and around Pershore.

Specific Aims
  • To improve quality and practice among voluntary and community organisations.
  • To improve the skills of staff and volunteers who deliver services through voluntary and community organisations
  • To enable local residents to improve quality of life for other people.
  • To improve travel for those with no access to personal transport
  • To increase services to enable older people to live independently
  • To improve the life skills and employability of volunteers.
What this means

In practice, the activities we undertake to achieve our aim are wide-ranging and include:

  • Recruitment and placement of volunteers by providing a Centre where persons wishing to do voluntary work can register and people needing help or advice can be assisted or directed to the appropriate agency
  • Providing funding advice
  • Liaison with statutory and voluntary organisations to identify and address needs in the area
  • Linking needs to existing resources where possible, and establishing new facilities as and when required
  • Providing a Community Transport Service including a Social Car Scheme for those without a vehicle or unable to use public transport and an accessible Minibus Service for use by the elderly, disabled and local voluntary and community organisations
  • Providing and/or supporting other appropriate community services
  • Supporting a Resource Centre, to be used by others for printing, duplicating, etc
We work in partnership with South Worcestershire partners to form the South Worcestershire Information and Support Hub (SWISH).
