Worcestershire Voices Health & Well Being Priority

Worcestershire Voices decided to focus on Health and Well Being to develop effective links on behalf of the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) with Clinical Commissiing Groups (CCGs) and Worcestershire County Council's Adult Services & Health (ASH) Directorate as they develop their new roles. Worcestershire Voices takes a strategic role and are in partnership with Communityhwb who engage and deliver primarily at an operational level.

Why this is a priority:

Changes brought about by the transfer of Public Health to the local authority and the introduction of the three CCGs in different parts of the county to take over some of the responsibilities of the Primary Care Trust makes it imperative that the VCS develop strong links with the new organisations as they seek to deliver good quality services to communities in Worcestershire.

The significant changes brought about by the funding restrictions on the Adult Social Care budget provide an opportunity for the VCS to be a significant player in supporting the development of new ways of working.

What we are currently doing:

  • Survey for the sector in response to Future Lives consultation to assess the impact and support needs
  • Recruiting VCS members to key strategic partnerships including Health and Well Being Board and Health Improvement Group and the VCS Reference Group to ensure the voice is heard from the diverse VCS organisations working in this field
  • Regular engagement in the relevant stakeholder groups of the three CCGs
  • Regular meetings with the Director, senior officers and also Cabinet Members of the WCC Directorate of Adult Services and Health through the joint meetings of the VCS Reference Group to work together on the development of the Future Lives programme

How you can get involved:

  • Feed into the discussions on the Forum
  • Identify key people (could you do it?) who could reflect the views of the sector at key strategic forums/partnerships/networks
  • Identify key groups across the county with whom we need to engage
  • Contact the Communityhwb at Lizzies@comfirst.org.uk
